CHAPTER EIGHT

When Tan came back from working out in their fully equipped gym, there was a beige Adrienne Vinatinni dress and black red bottom open toe shoes spread out on their bed. She put baby Spal in his play pen and examined the items that lay before her. Hmmm, she thought as they were her exact size.

“Gladeye?” She reluctantly called upstairs to her husband. She was still scared to death from yesterday. She loved Gladeye more for what he could give than for who he was. The fact he called her the wrong name from time to time, she figured would pass, eventually.

“Yea?” Gladeye came in the room and immediately picked up baby Spal. “What up big boy?” he picked his son up and bounced him in the air. Baby Spal laughed and cooed. He loved his father, and even Stevie Wonder could see how much Gladeye loved his only child.

“Did you buy this?” She asked already knowing the answer. He was so busy playing with baby Spal, initially, he didn’t hear her. “Gladeye,” she touched his arm to get his attention. “Did you buy this?” She asked again, pointing at the clothes on their bed.

“Yeah,” he didn’t even looking her way. I have a business dinner tonight. I’ve already arranged for a baby sitter. So, start getting ready.”

“I-I don’t want to go, I don’t think…”

“There you go thinking,” he replied coldly. “Just be ready in an hour and a half.”

Tan sulked as she picked up the Louboutin red bottoms. “I’ve never owned a pair of shoes that didn’t have shoe laces. Have you looked in my closet?” She joked. “All I own is sweat shirts and jea…”

Her words ended in midsentence, when she glanced at the closet, and saw all the new clothes and shoes. When she examined them closely, her stomach knotted up.

“Are these Canary’s?” She asked, as she grabbed one of the dresses and faced him.

He laughed, “You’re funny, go head and get dressed baby and meet me down stairs.”

Gladeye walked out the room and closed the door behind him.
